INFO FROM THE KENTUCKY STATE DIRECTOR ON THE 2006 GOLD CLASSIC

Written By Chris Sheridan

What a great rally at Snowshoe, WV.  Ron and Glo you did a fantastic job.  Thanks for all your efforts.  Karen, Margaret and I really enjoyed seeing everyone and getting to ride in such a beautiful area.  On Tuesday, Ken and Gerry Geib led several of us on a ride to the cranberry bogs.  Wednesday we rode with several people to Beartown State Park.  This was quite an interesting place.  That day Karen and I were introduced to geocaching.  We are hooked.  Thursday found us at the Cass Rail Road riding old No. 5.  This steam engine was celebrating its 100th year of use.  Wow!!  Everything was going smoothly that day until Roger Dale almost made one the workers there mad.  Come to find out it was just a little misunderstanding.  Hey Roger, got any nut coal?  I will never forget that conversation and the looks on Roger and the other guys face when we all figured out what was going on.  It was kind of like watching Abbott and Costello.

On to the business at hand, we have secured a host hotel for the 2006 Gold Classic.  It will be at the Days Inn in Kuttawa, KY.  They are currently accepting reservations.  Just let them know you are with the American Gold Wing Association or AGWA.  Either way will work.  Room rates and phone number will be listed below.  We encourage everyone to make their reservations as early as possible.  We should be able to book this hotel full.  It would be nice to fill it with just AGWA members.  We have a secondary facility in the event we need more rooms.  This facility is next to the host hotel, but it will have a higher room rate.  The difference is a little over $10 per night.  This facility will not be disclosed until necessary.  The host hotel has instructions to fill first and then direct our members to the other facility when the time comes.  We are confident this will happen.  This is why we encourage all to make their reservations early.  Both hotels will stop holding rooms on April 18, 2006.  They also have the standard 30-day cancellation policy.  We are working hard to make this an enjoyable rally for all.  There are many things to do in this area as well as the riding.  We also have several activities planned for all to enjoy.  Information for the rally registration will come later.  We will get this out as soon as possible.  Following is the Days Inn phone number.

            Days Inn                                               1-888-789-6079

            Room Rates                                          $59.99 plus tax

Undisclosed Facility Rates                      $70.00 plus tax

This is a really nice Days Inn and they have a web site www.daysinnkuttawa.com .  This has some links that may be of interest to some.  To avoid any confusion let’s make our reservations by phone.   As stated earlier more information will follow.  Any questions feel free to contact us at 270-462-3616 or cspotrune@brtc.net .
