IS THIS REALLY NOVEMBER?

IS THIS REALLY NOVEMBER?

It could be described as nothing short of a PERFECT camping weekend!  Alone for the weekend because Clyde was off in Utah working, I set off Friday to join the Pugh’s at Cowens Gap State Park.  Once I left the hustle of the turnpike, I was greeted by nature’s beauty - the leaves were awesome!  Mostly golden yellow but just enough

other color thrown in to make you realize what a really perfect Fall day is all about.  Had plenty of daylight left to set up my tent and then was served filet for dinner.  Life is good!

My tent, purchased this spring for just such occasions, was perfect.  Not quite as luxurious as that motorcycle camper, but not bad at all.  And we all know how much stuff you can pack into a Gold Wing so I had everything I needed right down to my coffee mug.  If we thought Friday

was great weather, Saturday was even better!  In the 70’s and we hiked the mountain and went for a ride over to the Bedford area to visit friends of Denny and Betty.  Awesome ride back to camp and then into the truck and off for dinner at the American Legion.  We thought this to be a little safer since it was dark and there were a lot of leaves on the road - plus this is definitely deer country.  Oh - I guess I should also mention that it must be bear country too since just a few campsites down from us the Rangers had set up a bear trap!  What the heck am I doing sleeping

in a tent alone??!

Sunday I expected to wake up to the rain showers that I had heard were coming, but the sun was shining - well at least for a little while.  The wind soon picked up and it showered off and on -which made cooking a challenge for Denny.  If his fire wasn’t blowing out there were leaves in the eggs - and the umbrella wasn’t big enough to cover him and the food!  The rain was mostly just a nuisance and was over by the time we finished eating… and there’s that sun again!

Denny kept telling me that Clyde had said to take good care of me and he certainly did.  I had valet parking (I wasn’t really into backing my cycle down an incline that was stoned plus covered with leaves!)  And when I went to pull

out, he had swept all the damp leaves out of my path!  Thanks much Denny and Betty for a great weekend!  It was definitely perfect - and to top it off, it was my longest solo ride ever and my first time camping alone in a tent.

Missed you deeply Clyde but it was a great experience!  Yup, life IS good!
