IOWA CHAPTER “L” HAS BEEN BORN

IOWA CHAPTER “L” HAS BEEN BORN

Chapter L has just been born.  Those of us involved are very excited about forming a new riding group.  An organizational meeting was hosted by our new Area Rep. Gary Williams in his home on Thursday night July 22.  That happened to be my birthday and I am 26 for the second time around.  If some of this doesn’t make sense just remember that I am a year older and sometimes old timers disease kicks in.  If I ramble on that is me the rambling rider.   By mutual agreement we are Chapter L and hope all new members will ride like L, enjoying the ride and being safe.

Members decided that each member plan and host a ride.  It took a little coaxing but everyone did finally volunteer.  Nothing ever changes when it comes to finding people to help.  A list of the rides will be supplied to members after I am through rambling.

We have decided our meetings will be the second Thursday of each month.  We will have our first meeting August 12 at Sportsters in Urbana.  In case you don’t know where that is, it is just off 380.  We will have dinner at 6:30 and a very short meeting at 7:30.

Our first scheduled ride will be Saturday, August 7.  We are planning breakfast at 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM for the ride.   Gary and Carolyn Williams will be hosting that ride.  As soon as they determine where to meet for breakfast an email will be sent with an announcement to all about the meeting place.  The rides that we have scheduled will b,e for the most part, an all day ride.  If that does not work out, but you still would like to ride for part of the trip, please feel free to join in and ride for however long you can.  Please don’t feel you have to ride the entire ride.

The main reason we joined this group is to be able to ride.  I know some of you say that you can ride any time and that is true, but to ride as a group and have lots of fun is what is behind this.  If you don’t like riding with a group then this is not for you.  Everyone is welcom,e as is any bike.  AGWA has a web site you can go to and read a little bit about what the organization is all about.  Their web site is www.agwa.com.

We hope to have lots of fun and do plenty of riding with old friends and hopefully finding some new ones.
